Basic Skills The Basic Skills Program is a remediation program that provides help to struggling students in the classroom. |
Basic Skills in the Classroom Basic skills students are taught in the setting of their own classrooms. A basic skills teacher and or teaching aide will be present in the classroom to provide extra help to the basic skills student. *The primary grades may pull out basic skills students to be instructed in small groups. |
Placement in the Basic Skills Program In the beginning of the year students are chosen to be part of our Basic Skills Program. A student is chosen for the program if he/she meets two out of the three set criteria. Criteria 1- An At-Risk form has been
completed for a student based on his/her last year's classroom performance.
This form is completed by the child's last year's teacher. * Kindergarten is the exception. Kindergarten
students are placed in the program based on the At-Risk Forms filled
out by the previous year's teacher. |
How do I know my child is in the Basic
Skills Program? A letter will be sent
home in the beginning of the year to parents whose child is in the
program. |
